Challenge 6: Do 10 Pull-ups
It's been a super busy week all round, with me being in Leeds and Renae making ALL THE PUMPKINS, so it's time to break out a long-term challenge blog post.
This challenge is courtesy of Andrew Law, who has something against me.
Challenge accepted.
The plan is three sets of pull up reps each day. They hurt. Even my legs hurt afterwards, which seems unfair.
Did I mention I'm not super fond of this challenge?
Oh well, no pain, no entirely arbitrary gain!
Favourite drawing: Inktober continues to inspire me to try new stuff, so that long term challenge is at least going pretty well.
So, what's this challenge all about?
I'm not the buffest of men. I used to tend more towards scrawny than wiry, before I started tending towards doughy rather than doughty. This challenge is about, in some tiny way, addressing that. I need to do 10 pull-ups. (In a row, without stopping. Not just across the year.)This challenge is courtesy of Andrew Law, who has something against me.

I've only owned it for a day, but I hate this bar already. |
How's it going to work?
Well, simply put I'm going to pull myself into the air, repeatedly, until I can do it 10 times in a row. Then I'm going to NEVER DO IT AGAIN.How's it going so far?
I can manage four pull ups in a row. Four. Observant readers will note this is significantly less than 10.The plan is three sets of pull up reps each day. They hurt. Even my legs hurt afterwards, which seems unfair.

Long-term updates
French words "learned" (according to the memrise app):692.
Daily photos taken? Yes.
Swordfighting learnt: None, due to the aforementioned busyness.
I am currently reading: I've started Daggerspell, by Katherine Kerr. I'm liking it so far, even though it's the sort of fantasy book that starts with three pages of deeply earnest pronunciation notes.
"Cheat" days on food since last week: One - all the snacks at roleplay. Plus, I probably ate more than I should have while at my conference in Leeds.
"Cheat" days on exercise: Well, I worked up a sweat hiking around Leeds and Renae and I did some dancing at a wedding, but still not doing great on this one.
Better than this poor sod. But at least he doesn't have to do pull ups. |
